George Washington Patriot Run
George Washington's Mount Vernon hosts the George Washington Patriot Run each year. The event includes a 10-miler (7:15 a.m.) and a 5K (7:30 a.m.) on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024. The course includes both lanes of a five-mile stretch of the George Washington Parkway from the GW Parkway Circle to W. Boulevard Drive. The Finish Festival includes music, food and beverage concessions as well as a free beer for each runner. All participants receive a commemorative George Washington Patriot Run technical t-shirt and a finisher medal engraved with George Washington's bust. Awards are presented to first place overall, by age division and for the Military/First Responder categories.

Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run occurs during the National Cherry Blossom Festival in April. The run is in high demand, and to avoid overcrowding, the National Park Service limits the number of entrants to 15,000. Sign up online to be included in the entry lottery.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series
Ready to rock out in the District? Take on a monumental musical running tour of Washington, DC with entertainment at every turn. Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Washington DC offers a Half Marathon and 5K with bands on course, cheer squads lining the streets, Honest Abe, breathtaking monument views, drumlines and more to keep the energy up all race long. Finish at the National Mall with a view of the U.S. Capitol Building and don’t let the party stop there. Celebrate at the Finish Line Festival with live music, food and a cold beverage. See you at the start line every March!

DC Bike Ride
If you’re looking for family-friendly fall fun in the District, you’ve found a gem with the DC Bike Ride. Take part in an outdoor adventure that is sure to create lasting memories with this 20-mile closed-road, car-free bike ride that cruises past DC’s stunning sites.

Spartan Stadion at Nationals Park
This Spartan Race is modeled after the stadion, an original Olympic game dating back to ancient Greece. Hosted at Nationals Park on the Capitol Riverfront, the race puts contestants to the test across 20-plus more obstacles spread out over three-miles.

Marine Corps Marathon
The Marine Corps Marathon is now in its fourth decade and is considered one of the best marathons for families and beginners. Unlike most races it doesn't offer prize money; instead the event is a celebration of the courage and commitment it takes to train for and complete a marathon. It’s also a chance to see the Marines in action doing everything from race operations, security and playing in the Marine Corps Band.
