A Tour Of Her Own is the first tourism company in Washington, DC to focus exclusively on women’s history, specializing in city tours, cultural experiences, author talks, and virtual presentations.
Our mission is to elevate women’s stories into a more prominent place in American history and culture by reframing traditional history to integrate the challenges and contributions of women into our narratives through storytelling. Tours are led by licensed professional tour guides and public historians who provide insight about life in DC from a local Washingtonian perspective.
We also offer custom itineraries that include historical visits to house museums, memorial markers, and educational exhibits as well as experiences that support small woman-owned businesses and local organizations such as afternoon teas, chocolate tastings, or outings to women's professional sports games. Our custom packages can include gift bags or giveaways including autographed copies of our book 111 Places in Women's History That You Must Not Miss in Washington, DC.
