William A. Hanbury, President & CEO William A. Hanbury serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Destination DC, the Washington, DC Convention & Tourism Corporation (WCTC). Destination DC is responsible for promoting the District and the Capital Region as a premier tourism and convention destination, as well as for sales and marketing of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Destination DC is the Washington, DC metropolitan area's primary marketing organization and is responsible for the economic health of a $5 billion travel and tourism sector, generating nearly 70,000 jobs for the District and more than 220,000 jobs throughout the region. Mr. Hanbury is also President of The American Experience Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity formed to educate the public about arts, culture and the unique heritage of Washington, DC. Prior to WCTC, Hanbury served as President and CEO of the Greater Milwaukee Convention and Visitors Bureau, where he directed the marketing activities for the Midwest Express Center, including the coordination of naming rights for the complex. Currently, Mr. Hanbury is an active board member of the following organizations: The Board of Trade, Federal City Council, DC Education Compact, Downtown DC Business Improvement District, and Greater Washington Initiative. He is also very involved in the arts and cultural community, serving as a board member of the Washington Ballet Company, the Helen Hayes Awards and the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington, DC. Mr. Hanbury is Chairman of the Board of Destination Marketing Association International and immediate past chair of the Greater Washington Travel Alliance. Previously, he served on the NFL Alumni National Board of Directors. A graduate of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, Hanbury holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration as well as a Bachelor of Arts from Wilkes University.
Victoria Isley, Senior VP, Marketing & Communications A twelve-year veteran of the CVB industry, Victoria Isley is Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Destination DC. As the head of marketing and communications efforts she is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to position Washington, DC as a world-class destination to local, regional, national and international audiences. Since joining the WCTC in October 2001, Isley has successfully created, organized and launched several region-wide cultural tourism and promotional programs, including Jacqueline Kennedy's Washington: A Citywide Celebration, Blues & Dreams: Celebrating the African-American Experience in Washington, DC and Washington, DC Celebrates American Originals. Prior to her tenure at the WCTC, Isley served as Vice President of the Tampa Bay CVB for four years. Prior to Tampa, Isley served as the Director of Communications for the Durham CVB. Isley holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is an accredited Professional in Destination Management. She is currently on the marketing committee of the International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, a member of the Public Relations Society of America, as well as the Society of American Travel Writers.
Elliott Ferguson, II, Senior VP, Convention Sales & Services Elliott Ferguson serves as Senior Vice President of Convention Sales and Services for Destination DC. In this position, Ferguson directs and manages the activities of DDC's convention sales and services staff as they promote Washington, DC as a premier meeting and convention destination. Ferguson is also charged with developing the corporation's convention sales strategy and working with local hotel properties to further build business for individual hotels in the metro area. An eighteen-year veteran of the CVB industry, Ferguson has been with the WCTC since December 2001. Prior to working at the WCTC he served as Vice President of Sales at the Atlanta, Georgia CVB. He has also served as Director of Sales for both the Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia CVBs. Ferguson received a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Business Administration from Savannah State University. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners, the Religious Conference Management Association, and the Professional Convention Management Association. Ferguson also serves as a board member for the March of Dimes Capital Chapter. |
